Its Such a nice place, and it's one of the few old buildings that didn't have some skeleton in the basement. It doesn't seem like the most important building but, it is a welcome change of pace, between the Nazi conference buildings and Soviet propaganda centres.

I found it neat that they did not restore the building all back to the same time period to show the different uses of the building.

I was confused with certain rooms of this building as we started with the an older time period and moved to the East German period. The room upstairs with the two paintings including one that belongs to the professor's family, almost seemed out of place. I found it interesting that other communist leaders stayed in this building. I read a novel in german by Herta Müller, who explains how she was tormented by Nicolae Ceausescu, a former Romanian communist leader who visited this palace! This comment really opened my eyes as I now can expect that the people of East Germany felt similar torment by the East German government.
