Potsdamer Platz traffic light

This is the replica of one of the first traffic lights in Europe. Also in this picture is the DB building on the right which is the Deutsche Bahn transportation headquarters. The brown building on the left is an office building.

Amazing how much the city has changed! The light seemed more useful in the old photo though. I think I might miss this one if I was driving down the street.

I agree! Do you know where the first traffic light was in Canada? I think that the fact that the city of Berlin is displaying a replica of one of the first traffic lights in Europe shows that the city is interested in portraying it's past! This may also be why we see so many memorials in the city of Berlin!

Also, I think it would be replicated because they are proud to (arguably) have the first traffic light in Europe.

I agree with Jennifer, if I had not known that the traffic light was in the area I may not have found it. However, there are advertisements of the light around Berlin (I have seen at least 3 now) so people know that it is in the city.

Do you know if there are any major tenants in the brown building? I figure that the buildings surrounding Potzdamer Platz are prime office space.

Well that is interesting, I have not seen any advertising for the traffic light.

I haven't seen any advertisements either, although I had heard of it before I came. As for Canada's first, google said Hamilton 1925 (and it had bells on it for a while... to indicate a amber light more completly apparently!) but I'm not 100% sure! It wasn't Regina thats for sure! I couldn't find anything about a replica of it either, would be interesting to know if there was something there mentioning it.
